1927 | Drama | USA | Directed by F.W. Murnau
Overview
Murnau, fresh from German expressionism, brought moving cameras and painted light to Hollywood. A farmer tempted to murder his wife, then a day of reconciliation in the city. Won the first and only Academy Award for Unique and Artistic Picture. Often called the greatest film of the silent era, lyrical where most silent films were theatrical.
