Breathless
1960 | Drama | France | Directed by Jean-Luc Godard
Overview
Jean-Paul Belmondo rubs his lip like Bogart, shoots a cop, and runs with an American girl selling newspapers on the Champs Elysees. Godard wrote from a Truffaut story and cut on the jump, rewriting film grammar with a handheld camera. The New Wave detonated here. Cinema after Breathless never trusted continuity again.
