Star Wars
1977 | Sci-Fi | USA | Directed by George Lucas
Overview
A farm boy, a princess, a smuggler, and a Death Star. Lucas recycled serials, Kurosawa, and myth into one of the highest grossing films ever. Industrial Light and Magic, THX sound, and the modern effects industry were founded for it. Fox stock doubled, modern merchandising was born, and cinema split into event and everything else. The Force became a household word.
